Microbiome applied to agriculture

The Center for Ecology, Evolution and Alterationes Climatic (cE3c) ea Faculdade de Ciências da Universidade de Lisboa (Ciências ULisboa) co-organized with the companies Agromarketing and Ideagro an unprecedented workshop on the application of microorganisms to agriculture. The workshop will take place on March 25 at the Aga Khan Foundation, between 9:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m.

The scope of the initiative Lisbon Capital VGreen Europe 2020, or Center for Ecology, Evolução e Alterações Climatic (cE3c) ea Faculdade de Ciências da Universidade de Lisboa (Ciências ULisboa) co-organized with the companies Agromarketing and Ideagro an unprecedented workshop on the application of microorganisms to agriculture. In this event, the results of the latest research will be presented, with a view to reducing the addition of fertilizers without affecting production. This event will take place Aga Khan Foundation, on March 25 from 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Aimed at researchers, company technicians, agricultural managers, producers and students, it aims to be a forum for discussion and coexistence. Along with the scientific information, there will be space for gatherings, plot discussions and the establishment of partnerships.

The agricultural production is dependent on the quality of the soil alone and in particular of its biological community, not visible, or microbiome. In accordance with the European Ecological Pact, there is a need to create technical training in the direction of good biodiversity standards, based on sustainable management alone. In this sense, it is necessary to develop more knowledge about the interactions between biodiversity at the level of only and production. Irrigation and intensification of fertilization have been a common practice at the level of rural areas, including in areas of gardens and urban parks. It is urgent to establish mechanisms that propagate the scientific knowledge about the importance of knowing how to manage biodiversity alone. The intensive practices of mechanized agriculture and forestry cause exhaustion and erosion by only compacting or leaving it exposed. Being either alone or a pillar of our society, it is necessary to show agricultural managers, farmers and owners how they can be explored in a sustainable way or only by raising awareness for the proper management of their biodiversity.

This event, organized by the researcher Cristina Cruz (cE3c-FCUL), is the result of a partnership established between the cE3c – FCUL com o Microbioma, international forum for microorganisms in agriculture, and Agromarketing, a Spanish events company, and Ideagro, a Spanish company also dedicated to to the agro-food sector. TO Portuguese Society of Ecology (SPECO) also joins the organization, disseminating and disseminating in favor of the sustainable management of two ecosystems.
